ARTIST STATEMENT:
I am a collector of misfit pieces, stray thoughts, found footage, etc.
I like moving around all the tangible and intangible bits trying to piece together
some personal truth. When I make sculpture I use found objects, things with
history. When I paint, it’s with fragments of shape, thought, line, memory, color.
Compositing video is just an extension of painting in layers or assemblage in
sculpture. Having this background allows me a lot of freedom to push the image
because I’m not so concerned with photographic purity. I’m exploring the
external influences and the internal pulses. I love the visual flexibility of video
and the added bonus of manipulating time and sound.
